This three-piece is so good at conjuring the hypnotic, swampy rhythms of Mississippi blues, you can barely bring yourself to believe they hail from the small city of Úbeda, in southern Spain. The grooves rumble and stomp, echoing the old masters: R.L. Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, and John Lee Hooker. A world away from from the canned riffs of modern blues festivals, Guadalupe Plata summons intense weather systems, full of thunderclap exclamations and swirling gusts of rain. It's raw, but so gorgeous you won't mind getting caught in the storm.
