Formed in Olympia, WA, in 2002 by Aaron and Nathan Weaver, Wolves in the Throne Room strives to create a personal brand of heavy music that’s grounded in the Pacific Northwest landscapes surrounding the brothers’ hometown. Thunderous and ominous, the band's early releases drew inspiration from thrash, doom, and black metal along with post-punk heroes like Swans and Siouxsie & The Banshees—and experimental classical music, too. The intensity of Wolves in the Throne Room's music continued to grow through the 2010s as the band sharpened the contrast between passages of quiet, haunting beauty and explosions of dark fury that come complete with Nathan Weaver's infernal howling.
