Dalex got his start as one half of the urban duo Jayma & Dalex, enjoying hits including 2014’s “Me Encantas” and “Lento.” But after his release of two solo EPs in 2018, it was clear that Dalex had gone in search of his solo voice—and was finding it. This muscular singer brings a potent R&B sensibility to trap- and reggaetón-dominated música urbana. For all his love of a smoldering melody, he doesn’t forget his roots (he grew up between Puerto Rico and the U.S.): He frequently employs a dembow beat to get the party started, and he thrives in posse cuts with artists like Nicky Jam, Sech, and Lenny Tavárez.
