Bossa nova's gauzy essence meets rocking Tropicalismo psychedelia in Boogarins, who launched their 2013 debut with the roiling, reverberating "Lucifernandis." Formed by singer/lyricist Dinho Almeida and multi-instrumentalist Benke Ferraz, Boogarins expanded into a quartet for the 2015 album Manual, whose diaphanous sensuality is epitomized by the ecstatic rush of "6000 Dias (Ou Mantra dos 20 Anos)." The multipart title track of 2017's Lá Vem a Morte (There Comes to Death) temporarily shelved Boogarins' shimmering sheets of sound for some old-fashioned musique concrète.
