Singer, actor and director Hiba Tawaji made her name with a recognisably powerful voice. The Lebanese soprano, who reached the 2015 semi-finals in France’s version of The Voice, has been belting out emotionally charged numbers since 2008, including classics composed by the Rahbani Brothers. With her four-octave range, she’s regularly worked with composer Oussama Rahbani, such as on the timeless, moving “La Bidayi wala Nihayi”. Songs like “Hkini”, from 2017’s Hiba Tawaji 30, show the artist—the first woman to ever sing on stage in Saudi Arabia—can also be endearingly tender.
