I saw the vandals

Tagging on a Tuesday night

On the south side of Sagamore Street

While I was at a stop sign

While I was stopped at a stop sign

That's when I came around to thinking

And put down my paper and pen

And I took a step inside of myself

With an imaginary spray can

And painted

On the walls of my heart

As I looked over my canvas

Of messy moments in time

I spelled your name over my cardiac muscle

Under an anarchy sign

An anarchy sign

My heart was bruised and battered

From years of self-abuse

Cigarettes and much, much worse

But I found a healthy part for you

And I painted

On the walls of my heart
