When I was fourteen

I taught myself guitar

I'd stay up all night just trying to learn the hardest part

Swore I'd get it right

Just needed to try

Had to prove I was worthy of their fucking time

I would play until my fingers bled

I used to tell myself that I'd sleep when I'm dead

I would do the best I could

And that would be better than them

Nothing in this world would stop me

Not these tiny fucking hands

Why can't I just be satisfied

Never celebrate what I've done right

Alway push myself twice as hard

As they did

And when I was a kid

Never learned that my best was all I could give

Well I'm still not satisfied

When I was 19

I tore myself apart

Shopped at stores that never went above a fucking large

Swore I'd never eat again

Moved into the gym

Wouldn't stop until I finally fit in with them

Sure I lost some weight

Told me the taste

Of any food eventually would be replaced

Finally looking thin

Fuck I'm sick again

Never really felt like myself in my own skin

Why can't I just be satisfied
