Gilgamesh

Picked up the pen, and wrote a verse upon a stone tablet

From Gilgamesh to Socrates,

I’m a lone traveler

The sword will mesh and awkwardly

Cause bones to shatter

And who attest, the prophecy

And this life that is not for me

 Like it never was taught to be

The end all be all,

We all

See these people

Live in free fall

My enemies wear disguises

They in the tree tops

I’m not a man for surprises

So when I open my eyelids

I’m mentally on a island

Finding my solace in silence

Cause when the snake opens it’s mouth

It’s often for the misguided

So when I write it, I let the ink fill up the page

For generations, I’m part father time’s DNA

Today, tomorrow

The rain that follows

We got

The pain, the sorrow

We gain the honorable

Thoughts

Bestowed upon us

By those

Who know what we’re not

They know when your back’s against the wall (you better)

Stay low (and pray)

Picked up the pen, and I knew that my life forever changed

What I ensue, and what I do, I can’t explain

The sky I flew, was covered with clouds filled with rain

And looking down at the grassy plains

And the way I explain my pain

The parallel, kept in chains, don’t know me well

What they say, the carousel,

Anyway, they show and tell

In a way they know the rails

In a train flipping heads and tails

Unknown destination when I’m fighting tooth and nail

The truth will tell

The human tale when we prevail

From being stuck and caught, cannot maneuver well

It’s like we hit a rock, and then we say we fail

It’s like we pick a spot, and then we fire shells

I knew what this life was when I first got it

I knew the game I was playing when I first bought it

I knew what the goal was when I first sought it

I knew what the lesson was when I first taught it
