How Could It Be Too Late?

I was as stranger when you saw me standin’ on my own

But neither one of us was workin’ hard to be alone

You started smilin’ when I asked you where you’re comin’ from

We stayed up laughing ‘til we saw the rising of the sun

And so you told me love was here to stay

And I believed it when I heard you say

We wouldn’t ever need another one to see us through

We were so quiet when the snow was falling on the ground

But raised a riot when the summertime had come around

And through it all we were just learnin’ how to be ourselves

Cuz when we’re makin’ time for peace of mind there’s nothin’ else

Until we knew that love was here to stay

We never needed anybody else to see us through

It’s such a feelin’ when you turn around and see the light

That starts revealin’ how an open heart can make it right

Cuz we’re all floating in the silent space around the sun

How could it be too late when we know that we’ve just begun?
