Six
Album · Metal · 2017
You can’t keep Dream Evil out of the power-metal game. On the Swedes’ first album in seven years, they still sound like a finely tuned engine. Niklas Isfeldt leads the way with his booming voice; he climbs to the sky on the gloriously chugging “Antidote,” then shifts to his low register to spin sinister melodies on the crunchy “Six Hundred and 66.” The guitars rip jet-screaming riffs throughout, while “How to Start a War” uses precisely picked scales.
