Over the course of his Federal and Heartless mixtape series, Moneybagg Yo has proven himself one of Memphis’ most consistent street reporters. The drawl is thick with Memphis slang, and if “Dice Game,” the opener from the Bet On Me EP, tells us anything, it’s that he runs with folks who like to shake ’em up. Comparing his life to a dice game, the MC utilizes gambling terminology to break down how he inevitably comes out on top. The inclusion of M-Town’s hottest producer Tay Keith on five of Bet On Me’s nine tracks certainly stacks the odds in Yo’s favor. Rap upstarts Gunna and Lil Baby show up to talk money-chasing (“Wat U On”) and the dope game (“No Cutt”), but Moneybagg Yo is also willing to take off his cool as he does on “Luv Cycle,” detailing early-relationship butterflies.
