Negative Approach are considered one of the most important bands of the original American hardcore punk movement of the early 1980s. Led by menacing shaved-headed frontman John Brannon, Negative Approach played blistering songs that rarely clocked in at over a minute. They were young, brash, and tough as nails, bottling a suburban-youth rage just beginning to take shape in America. The band burned out by 1984, and Brannon went on to form the sludge-noise outfit the Laughing Hyenas, and later Easy Action. Brannon also took a re-formed and reconfigured Negative Approach line-up on the road in the early 2000s.
