Detroit native Thornetta Davis is a powerhouse vocalist whose music is firmly rooted in the blues and vintage R&B, though she's also lent her talents to the likes of Bob Seger, Big Chief, and Kid Rock. One of the Midwest's leading blues divas, she has won more than 25 Detroit Music Awards dating back to 1991, when she was designated Best Blues Vocalist, and has been a frequent presence at festivals and events throughout the region, with occasional tours in Europe and the Netherlands. Her solo releases include Shout Out (1994), Sunday Morning Music (1996), Covered Live at the Music Menu (2001), and Honest Woman (2016), the last of which earned eight Detroit Music Awards and the Best Blues Album citation from France's L'Academie du Jazz. ~ Mark Deming
