ā¢ Yagnikās mother was a classical singer and guided the gifted vocalist, who started singing for All India Radio as a child.
ā¢ She learned the ropes of playback at a young age next to composer duos Kalyanji-Anandji and Laxmikant-Pyarelal, who would later be associated with several of her Bollywood highlights.
ā¢ She earned wider recognition with āMere Angne Mein, Pt. 2ā from the soundtrack of Laawaris (1981), which earned her a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Female Playback Singerāthe first of dozens of nods to come in the following decades.
