Organist David Goode is noted for international touring and a large recording catalog featuring his performances on major organs. He is also a composer. Goode has recorded for various labels, including the major Signum Classics. In 2025, he released the album Mozart: Organ Works - Trinity College Cambridge on that label. Goode was born in 1971 in the United Kingdom. He attended Eton College, a public school (in U.S. terms, a private high school) in the town of Eton as a music scholar, a student who performs at school functions in exchange for scholarship support. He went on to King's College, Cambridge, again as an organ scholar, from 1991 to 1994. His principal teacher there was David Sanger. Goode had further instruction from Jacques van Oortmerssen in Amsterdam. He won several prizes, including one at the International Organ Competition in St. Albans, England, in 1997. Goode's professional career began as sub-organist at Christ Church, Oxford, from 1996 to 2001. His recording career began with the album French Showpieces from King's, released in 1994. His 1998 release Orb & Sceptre appeared on the Herald Records label. After a stint as organist-in-residence at the First Congregational Church in Los Angeles from 2003 to 2005, Goode returned to England as organist at Eton College. He also toured widely, appearing multiple times at the BBC Proms as well as at venues across Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia. Goode is also a composer of choral and organ works whose catalog includes the Blitz Requiem, which had its premiere at St. Paul's Cathedral in London in 2013. He has recorded music from Bach to Reger, mostly for the Signum Classics label. Many of his recordings in the 2010s and 2020s have been devoted to the series "Bach: The Complete Organ Works," which appeared as single albums and in a 16-CD box set. In 2025, his album Mozart: Organ Works - Trinity College Cambridge appeared on Signum Classics. Goode taught at Eton College from 2005 to 2022 but was banned from the teaching profession by Britain's Teaching Regulation Agency after he admitted to conducting searches for indecent images of children on a work computer. ~ James Manheim
