Violinist Frederick Grinke was a major presence in mid-20th century Britain as a soloist, chamber music player, orchestral musician, and educator. He specialized in English music and made important early recordings of music by Vaughan Williams and others. Grinke's recording career began in the 78 rpm era. Even after his death, his recordings continued to attract attention on historical reissues, including one of chamber works by Edmund Rubbra and Lennox Berkeley that appeared on the Dutton Vocalion in 2010. In 2024, his work appeared on the album Ralph Vaughan Williams: The Grinke Legacy.
