A producer, label boss, and artist, DJ Hell was offered a recording contract by Belgian label R&S Records after ending a set at Berlin’s Love Parade with his own track, "My Definition Of House." Hell subsequently launched Disko B, the label that would release most of his '90s recordings. In 1995, Hell launched International Deejay Gigolos, mixing disco, Detroit techno, Chicago house, and punk. By the '00s, the roster of artists had expanded to include Fischerspooner, Tuxedomoon, Miss Kittin, Jeff Mills, and Dave Clarke, making Hell a full-fledged taste-maker. Hell made his full-length debut with GETEERT & GEFEDERT in 1994. It's follow-up, MUNICH MACHINE (named after a Giorgio Moroder project from the 70s), was heavy on the eclectic covers, placing the Normal’s iconic "Warm Leatherette" alongside a beefy version of Barry Manilow’s "Copacabana."
