Following his breakout in 2020, Skillibeng became one of Jamaicaâs brightest young dancehall stars.
â Adopting the name Skillibengâa reference to vintage dancehall slang from the â80s and â90sâhe debuted in 2015 with the track âBrain Parts.â
â His first major hit was 2019âs âBrik Pan Brik,â which he followed with such hugely popular tracks as âMr. Universeâ and âTorpedo.â
â Skillibeng guested on âBad Gyal,â a song from iconic dancehall MC Vybz Kartelâs 2020 LP, Of Dons & Divas.
â Dancehall star Popcaan, who hails from the same parish in Jamaica, invited Skillibeng to feature on the 2020 single âHave It,â and returned the favor by guesting on the young artistâs track âPree.â
â The music video for 2021 anthem âCokeâ courted controversy with its footage of Skillibeng performing inside the wreckage of a plane that had suspiciously crashed on the island.
