Survivors of the ā90s Britpop explosion, rock band Supergrass navigated the hype and continued topping the UK charts as they refined their sound throughout the 2000s.
ā Formed in 1993, Supergrass debuted the following year with the semi-autobiographical single āCaught By the Fuzz,ā which was championed by radio legend John Peel.
ā Their first LP, 1995ās I Should Coco, debuted at No. 1 on the UK album chart and eventually went Platinum, driven by the success of the single āAlright.ā
ā I Should Coco was nominated for the Mercury Prize, and over the next year Supergrass won an NME Award (for Best New Band) and a BRIT Award (for British Breakthrough Act).
ā In 1997, In It for the Money hit No. 2 on the UK album chart, and the groupās next three albumsāalong with the 2004 best-of collection Supergrass Is 10ālanded in the Top 10.
ā Created in collaboration with Jim Hensonās Creature Shop, the video for 1999ās āPumping on Your Stereoā earned the band their second BRIT nomination for Best British Video.
ā Nearly a decade after their initial split, Supergrass reunited in 2019 to perform at the Glastonbury Festivalās annual Pilton Party.
