Singer Tyler Shaw’s slick pop has landed him several hits in his native Canada, including 2012’s “Kiss Goodnight”.
• The musical streak in Shaw’s family goes back generations. His great-grandparents played in one of the only wedding bands in Saskatchewan, Canada. Nevertheless, Tyler wanted to be a pro soccer player before picking up the guitar.
• After winning a singing competition sponsored by the Canadian cable channel MuchMusic, Shaw signed with Sony Music Canada and released his debut single, “Kiss Goodnight,” in 2012. The track peaked at No. 24 on the Canadian Billboard Hot 100 en route to going platinum.
• In 2014, he earned a Juno nomination for Breakthrough Artist of the Year.
• Shaw’s 2015 debut album, Yesterday, spawned the hits “House of Cards” and “Wicked,” both of which went gold in Canada.
• Intuition, Shaw’s 2018 sophomore album, yielded three hit singles: “Cautious,” “With You,” and “To the Man Who Let Her Go.” The album brought Shaw a Juno nomination for Pop Album of the Year.
