With a sound that seamlessly blends sweet disco with fiery funk, The Brand New Heavies made their name combining the futuristic sounds of the UK acid house scene with smoother downtempo rhythms and splashes of cool jazz. Paired with singer N'Dea Davenport on their early hits, the core duo of Simon Bartholomew and Andrew Levy later worked with hip-hop legends such as Gang Starr and The Pharcyde, as well as other female vocalists. Davenport later rejoined, kicking off a string of albums that continue to mine the heyday of ‘70s soul and ‘80s R&B for inspiration.
