An extreme band that draws on Scandinavian black metal and Viking traditions for a brutal fusion of bludgeoning riffs and Norse mythology, childhood friends Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson formed Enslaved as teenagers in their native Norway. Early works were often recorded in Icelandic or Norwegian, but as the band continued to experiment with sounds, textures, and composition, they moved to using mainly English lyrics. Through an uncompromising sound and astounding live shows, they've picked up a loyal and devoted cult following worldwide.
