By 1965, The Beatles had begun experimenting with folk, and Bob Dylan was going electric. But it was The Byrds who really epitomized the folk-rock era. The L.A. band's chiming melodies and gorgeous harmonies turned a generation of kids onto acoustic guitars and country blues. (Having hits with Dylan and Pete Seeger covers didn't hurt, either.) By 1966, The Byrds were into psychedelic rock, but they never abandoned their folky roots.
