As one of the most influential era of pop music, the ‘80s have been omnipresent in indie pop and rock since the ‘00s, including in Pale Waves. Borrowing the synthier end of ‘80s pop, the Mancunian band's debut, My Mind Makes Noises, dropped in 2018 and featured anthemic rollers such as “There’s a Honey” and “Television Romance”, which catapulted them into the higher ranks of to-watch-out-for groups. The 2021 follow-up, Who Am I?, adopted a more guitar-driven, ‘90s alt rock-indebted sound, as heard on numbers including “She’s My Religion” and “Easy”.
