But instead he splits his seventh album between wracked ballads that drip with real heartache (“Duena de Mi Soledad”), slick rock anthems that drive the singer/songwriter to ecstatic climaxes (“Bailar en el Alambre”), and pop confections too playful to resist (“Sigue Pasando”). While he can charm you with his tenderness, Ubago will also stun you with his intensity, especially on the sweeping and string-driven Luis Fonsi duet “Cuenta Conmingo.”
