Army Navy tuck their relationship woes inside big, bright power pop on their second album. Justin Kennedy delivers heartache with an air of innocence: "Said it was only me and you/Except your husband, that was true," he sings over cheery handclaps and a plinking piano on "Ode to Janice Melt." Jangly guitars line his laments with plenty of sparkle and tightly weave through emphatic rhythms on "Last Legs" and "I Think It's Gonna Happen," then stretch out on moody closer "Pastoral."
