Yung Pinch
714Ever
Album · Hip-Hop/Rap · 2016 · TWNSHP
On "Here We Go Again," California rapper Yung Pinch declares "I'm a rock star/No Smash Mouth” in his signature surfer-dude drawl. Funnily enough, his sound is actually as indebted to late-'00s indie rock as it is trap-reared hip-hop. "When I Was Yung" and "Rock With Us" find him languidly spitting in his just-woke-up flow over vaporous beats reminiscent of chillwave titans like Neon Indian and Toro y Moi, with Pinch telling tales of hanging with the dudes that feel instantly nostalgic.
