Trouble In Shangri-La
Album - Pop, Music, Soft Rock, Rock, Arena Rock, Pop/Rock
After years of writers’ block, drug dependency, and the disappointing performance of Street Angel (not to mention 1997’s massively successful Fleetwood Mac reunion), Stevie Nicks refocused her creative energies for the triumphant Trouble In Shangri-La, her best-selling album since 1983’s The Wild Heart. Nicks has always chosen her collaborators wisely, and here she picks the most fruitful lineup of her career. Her old friends Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers are onboard, as is her famous flame Lindsey Buckingham, but more importantly, Nicks reached out to several of the most prominent female artists of the era: Macy Gray, Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow and Natalie Maines. Nicks has long considered herself a conduit for others’ energy, and here she funnels the talents of the aforementioned artists into “Love Is,” “Bombay Sapphires” and “Too Far from Texas.” “Sorcerer” and “It’s Only Love” contain some of the most moving singing and playing of Nicks’ career, and both songs hark back to her early years with Fleetwood Mac, and even further to Buckingham-Nicks.
