About 4hero
Biografia wykonawcy
When trying to describe 4hero’s music, you could get lost in a labyrinth of genres: jungle, breakbeat, techno, nu-jazz, house, broken beat. What matters is that Denis “Dego” McFarlane and Mark “Marc Mac” Clair, the London-bred producers who comprise the group, have made a career chasing the most irresistible pockets on earth, their loyalty belonging to the groove above all else. Emerging at the beginning of the 1990s from the vibrant pirate radio scene, Dego and Marc Mac helped codify the sound of drum and bass with albums like 1991’s In Rough Territory and 1994’s Parallel Universe, with an accompanying series of singles and EPs. As the world of electronic music continued to evolve, so did 4hero, as they forged ahead with new, elementally irresistible styles—both in their original work and when transforming that of others, as they did on their famous cover of Minnie Riperton’s “Les Fleurs” or their remix of Nuyorican Soul’s “I Am the Black Gold of the Sun.” Their 1998 LP, Two Pages, earned them widespread acclaim, as it weaves nearly ambient asides (“Wormholes”), lush and exultant odes (“Golden Age of Life”), and atonal experiments (“Greys”) into a beguiling tapestry.
