Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. In 4th grade, I sang Sitting on the Dock of the Bay at my school’s choir showcase. The crowd gave me a standing ovation, and parents of other kids told me I was going to be a star. It was so surreal and made me feel like anything could be possible.

Tell us why you chose this song. “RAY J” This song means everything to me—it’s a letter to my mom, my city, and to myself. It speaks of my deepest desires: to see my mom happy, to find a true partner, and to break free from the grind. It’s my heart, my truth, and my hope for a better life.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One of the most unforgettable moments was when an old friend rapped my song word for word. Hearing him connect with my lyrics so deeply filled me with pride, disbelief, and gratitude. It was a powerful feeling, like everything had come full circle.
