A singer/songwriter with an introspective adult alternative sound, Bic Runga is a superstar in her native New Zealand where each of her first three albums reached number one. Her early alt-pop singles "Drive" and "Sway" became massive hits in the late '90s, vaulting her into the mainstream and earning numerous critical accolades. Runga's 2022 follow-up album, Beautiful Collision went multi-platinum at home and charted around Europe, boosting her international profile ahead of 2005's similarly successful Birds. While her popularity continued into the next decade, Runga's output slowed. After 2011's Belle, her only major output was a 2016 covers album. Following a lengthy hiatus, she returned in 2026 to release her sixth album, Red Sunset.
