The sibling singing group Cimorelli went from posting viral cover songs to making the charts with their own original music.
• The six Cimorelli siblings were homeschooled in a Catholic household in California. Their mother, Lynne, was a classically trained pianist who taught them how to play and sing.
• Their brother Mike Jr. (one of five male siblings) left the group in 2008 following the release of their self-titled EP.
• After going viral with a 2009 cover of Miley Cyrus’ “Party In The USA,” the group was signed to Island Records. Their 2011 EP CimFam includes covers of “Price Tag” (Jessie J and B.o.B.), “Dynamite” (Taio Cruz), “What Makes You Beautiful” (One Direction), and “Skyscraper” (Demi Lovato).
• Cimorelli left Island in 2015 after a series of EPs and moved to Nashville to record as independent artists. Their 2016 debut studio album, Up At Night, features 14 original songs. The LP went Top 25 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.
• Their third album, 2017’s Sad Girls Club, features a solo song by each sister.
• The group became a quintet in early 2020, when Dani Cimorelli announced her departure.
