Canadian country singer Crystal Shawanda first gained attention in her native country through a seven-part documentary series called CRYSTAL: LIVING THE DREAM that followed the young artist through the recording and promotion of her debut album, 2008's DAWN OF A NEW DAY. The album title is the English translation of her surname; Shawanda is a member of the Ojibwe nation raised on Manitoulin Island in Lake Huron. Shawanda's first single, "You Can Let Go," was a top 10 country hit in Canada.
