The brainchild of British DJ and musician Richard Fearless, Death in Vegas is an electronic rock group whose discography ranges from neo-psychedelic pop to percolating techno. The band was associated with the big beat scene when they released their debut album Dead Elvis (their initial moniker) in 1997. Moving from that album's dub, ska, and electro influences, Death in Vegas released the more rock-oriented The Contino Sessions, a critical and commercial success featuring guests like Iggy Pop and Dot Allison, in 1999. Scorpio Rising (2002) further explored shoegaze and psychedelia, and included a collaboration with Oasis' Liam Gallagher. The Krautrock-influenced Satan's Circus followed in 2004. The band's subsequent works have moved away from rock music, with releases like 2016's Transmission and 2025's Death Mask consisting of dark techno, post-industrial, and drone.
