Guided by reggae and hip-hop influences, the alternative band Dirty Heads have become leaders of the Southern California ska movement since forming in 2006.
∙ Any Port in a Storm, their 2008 debut LP, reached No. 7 on Billboard’s Alternative Albums chart and featured the Gold single “Lay Me Down.”
∙ The Dirty Heads have worked with such legendary artists as the late-Beatles session musician Billy Preston and Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash.
∙ In 2014, Sound of Change simultaneously topped Billboard’s Alternative and Independent Albums charts, and it was their fourth LP to enter the Billboard 200.
∙ The band recorded 2019’s Super Moon in the same Nashville studio where Elvis and Johnny Cash produced many of their own records.
