Formed in 1995 in Münster and subsequently based in Cologne, the lighthearted German pop/rock band Erdmöbel are comprised of Markus Berges, Ekimas, Chris deWueb, and Jürgen Diehle. Erdmöbel made their recording debut on NRW Records with Das Ende der Diät (1996). The band then switched to Tapete Records and in 2006, signed a major-label recording deal with Columbia Records. Next for Erdmöbel on Columbia came No. 1 Hits (2007), a German-language covers album (as much homage as parody) comprised of well-known pop songs. The album proved popular in Germany and became the band's first to chart, peaking at number 24. ~ Jason Birchmeier
