Last Exit boasts four individual talents: Peter Brotzmann, reeds; Sonny Sharrock, electric guitar; Bill Laswell, electric bass; and (Ronald) Shannon Jackson, drums. Each has heavyweight credentials in avant-garde jazz in both America and Europe, while Laswell is also a producer of jazz, pop, and heavy-metal rock discs. Last Exit played freely improvised jazz with the attack and brutal abandon of metal.
