Emerging as part of Scotland’s flourishing folk scene in the mid-60s, Barbara Dickson subsequently embraced a wider repertoire and became a popular MOR artist in the wake of her contributions to Willy Russell’s JOHN, PAUL, GEORGE, RINGO...AND BERT, a successful London West End musical. She scored a U.K. top ten single in 1976 with "Answer Me," followed up with "Another Suitcase In Another Hall" and "January February." In 1983, Dickson won a Laurence Olivier Award for her portrayal of Mrs. Johnstone in Russell’s acclaimed musical BLOOD BROTHERS, and topped the British charts with "I Know Him So Well," a duet with Elaine Paige from the musical CHESS. She was made an OBE in the 2002, for services to music and drama.
