Tenor Miles Mykkanen is a versatile figure who has sung opera, concert music, and lieder from various periods. Mykkanen has earned various career development awards, including the 2019 Sara Tucker Study Grant. He appeared in several premieres of new operas, including those of Ricky Ian Gordon's 27 and Jack Perla's Shalimar the Clown. One of Mykkanen's signature parts is the lead role in Leonard Bernstein's Candide. The year 2019 marked multiple breakthroughs for Mykkanen, who made debuts with the Cleveland Orchestra and the Philadelphia Opera and then won the 2019 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Mykkanen made his recording debut with a live performance of Kevin Puts' opera Silent Night, recorded in Minnesota in 2018 and released in 2021.
