A veteran German metal group with an eye toward Valhalla, Obscurity combines melodic death, black, and Viking metal, with lyrical inspiration from the Bergisches Land, a rugged, forested region of North Rhine-Westphalia. Since forming in the late '90s, Obscurity has positioned itself at the forefront of the German death/pagan/Viking metal scene, sharpening its trademark "battle metal" sound across acclaimed releases such as Thurisaz (2000), Várar (2009), Vintar (2014), and Skogarmaors (2021).
