Rhode Island instrumental trio Paper Jays approach traditional folk structure and instrumentation from an experimental perspective, adding noisy drones and free-ranging improvisation to their often bucolic acoustic sounds. The group grew out of a practice of private home taping sessions, and released their first public recordings in 2024 as a self-titled album with the legendary ESP label.
