In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was 19, I saw Kris Kristofferson play live solo at a free concert during SXSW. The rawness of heart he offered that day was nothing short of magic as he stood there alone on this huge stage singing from the depth of this spirit.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Blaze Foley, Sittin' by the Road Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois, Roger Eno, Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks John Prine, Diamonds In the Rough Blaze Foley's finger picking and lyrical cadence made a huge impact on me and I love how raw this record is. John Prine is a legend and this record is one of my favs of his. Eno and Lanois go full cosmic country here, big fan of these types of spaces
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Fire Swing (feat. Jessie Payo)” This song is likely the closest one to my heart. It tells the story of how I arrived in California from Texas, faced my shadows (an ongoing process) and stepped up to the plate of going for what I truly want.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I was briefly the talent on a polar expeditionary cruise ship and found myself playing shows on the Antarctic peninsula. That gig blew my mind and there is no way I'll ever forget that.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Way more than I can summarize here, but they'll be interviews and podcasts to get the scoop on all that.
