Jonathan Painchaud sings from the heart. Whether with his first band Okoumé or over the course of several solo releases, the Îles de la Madeleine, Quebec, native has always told it like it is. On his 2006 solo debut, C'est la vie, he displayed a knack for looking around and looking within. Then on Qu'on se lève, he approached social commentary with emotional honesty. 2010's rockin' La dernière des arcades nodded to his past, while La tête haute saw him finding peace in the present. On album after album, Painchaud crafts unpretentious rootsy gems about what really matters.
