Bryan and Katie Torwalt are the kind of entrancing musicians who could’ve been popular in any genre. Luckily for Christians, they chose praise & worship. Since signing with Jesus Culture Music in 2011, the husband-and-wife duo have released a string of records fusing ethereal alt-rock (think Coldplay) with warm acoustic textures. Topping it off are the Torwalts’ quivering harmonies, which feel as if they could dissolve into the Lord’s light at any moment. A perfect example of their sound is the popular “Holy Spirit” (covered by both Kari Jobe and Francesca Battistelli), but that’s just one sublime song in a catalog full of them.
