Mustafa Ceceli boasts a sweeping, passionate voice and a mastery of numerous instruments, earning him a couple of Türkiye Müzik Ödülleri honours (for Best Album and Best Male Artist, no less) in the process. The Ankara-born singer's eponymous 2009 debut is an electrifying folk affair, with earthy arrangements, heartbreaking string melodies and hushed acoustic guitar rhythms bolstered by crisp, gorgeous production. A subsequent remix album proves that Ceceli likes to experiment—but though he often dips into radio-friendly pop, the Turkish folk at the centre of his sound never fades.
