Joywave’s infectious alt-rock is pumped with plenty of swagger and a little satirical edge. Formed in Rochester, New York, the quartet began paving their path to the dance floor after joining forces with Big Data for 2013’s chart-topping alternative hit “Dangerous.” The track proved they could certainly groove, but their 2015 debut album, How Do You Feel Now?, upped the ante with the deep funk of “Tongues (feat. Kopps)” and bombastic rock of “Destruction.” Since, they’ve mastered Britpop’s bravado (“It’s a Trip!”), riffed like Queen (“Like a Kennedy”), and slipped in some trippy NASA samples (“Blastoffff”).
