Alpha

Alpha is a space for redefining the meaning of a woman’s power. Power doesn’t have to be about fighting, standing up, or changing history. The power of these artists lies in their existence. From there flows truth, authenticity, vulnerability, nuanced representation. Taking center stage this week are longtime friends and fellow pop stars Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan with a remix of “expectations,” the ’80s-inspired kiss-off track from Rodrigo’s most recent album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. For Rodrigo, it was a “dream come true” to have the “Pink Pony Club” singer join her on the track: “I was really inspired by Chappell and the attitude and swagger that she had,” she tells Apple Music.

Add Alpha to your library to keep in touch with the women making music on their terms, uplifting one another and challenging notions through the simple matter of being. Now, that’s real power.
