An artist in his own right, Edrie Hashim became the pre-eminent engineer of the sound of Malay rock in the ’00s. The producer-composer lent his talent to a who’s who of the genre, including bona fide ’90s legends Wings and Amy Search and latter-day pop rockers Hazama and Noryn. He also managed to honour the genre tradition of melodic guitar passages without ever losing his fine-tuned pop acumen.
