Despite his nickname, there’s nothing sluggish about Luis “El Haragán” Alvarez’s long-standing Mexican rock outfit. Swapping aggression with exuberance, the band trades in hard-driving fist-raisers and road-weary laments alike, always charged with a crackling energy. Shades of blues, classic rock ’n’ roll and R&B abound, often retooled with a distinctly Latin groove. Such rule-bending reveals their true outlaw attitude, where even hard-rock shots come with a chaser of a funky edge.
