Her solo work expands on the ideas that the band explored in the ‘90s and ‘00s—combining global pop with avant-garde electronics—but in a more down-to-earth, subtly forward-thinking fashion. “Then I Will Love You Again” leavens its space-age folk with perky handclaps that slowly build into a rollicking groove, and her duet with Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor, “Love Captive,” is so soft-focus that it would make Truffaut swoon.
